Our England Diary

(Written by pupils of class 7)

We were very excited to go to England for months and then we finally left Pirmasens on Monday, 16.03.2015...

MONDAY

Today we arrived in England and the first impression was very positive. England is such a beautiful country. On our way we took a lot of photos of our friends and classmates - that was very funny. (T.D.)
On our way to Grittleton we stopped in Canterbury. We saw beautiful old English houses and the cathedral. I was very tired. But I bought some cool souvenirs like black tea or funny British sweets ... (H.B.)
We saw many pupils in a very pretty school uniform. And in the shops we bought some postcards, watches, shirts, phone cases, tea, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and other souvenirs. (C.K.)
Grittleton is a little vilage, which looks so old and rustic. (T.D.)
I like the rooms here. (L.T.)
It was a cool day and I was so glad, when I was in my bed. (H.B.)

TUESDAY

Today was a nice, no - I'd say - a perfect day. The weather was sunny. After breakfast we walked a long and exhausting way to a little village called Castle Combe. But it was worth it. (T.D.)
There was a wonderful little church and we took a lot of pictures. (S.S.)
Then we visited Stonehenge. We saw big old stones, which build a circle, but nobody really knows what it was. We also visited the museum. It was a really interesting. (H.B.)
I have always wanted to visit Stonehenge. It is so fascinating how people transported these big rocks for a couple of miles without machines. I loved it, but some other students thought that watching old rocks is boring. (T.D.)
I am very happy because now I can say "I have been there!" (T.T.)
In the late afternoon we played Cricket with our "teachers" - Tom and Pete.
Before dinner we walked around in Grittleton. We had a lot of fun.

WEDNESDAY

First we went to Lacock on this sunny day. It's very nice and very little and there are interesting shops. (S.S.)
This was my favourite day. Lacock is very very nice - I like the style of the houses and it's also a film location of Harry Potter (the house in which he was born, ....). (L.T.)
Then we went to Bath and visited the Roman Baths - a museum. I would not have thought that the Romans had such good ideas. (T.T.)
We did not drink the water in the pool, because it was too hot and dirty. (A.S.)
The water in the pool was green. I tried the water from the spring - it tasted like blood. (S.M.)
Mrs. Gottert and I drank the clear water from an extra spring - it smelled and tasted like an old egg. (S.S.)
After the Roman Baths we were allowed to explore the city. But first I had to exchange money. (C.K.)
There was man with bird seed and there were a lot of doves sitting on his arms and head. We gave him some money and also fed the doves on our heads. We took some photos. Then we went into a lot of shops - Bath is very nice. (S.S.)

THURSDAY

Today we went to Oxford. Our first target was Christ Church College - a part of Oxford University. We had to be very quiet, because some of the students had lessons or even had to take some tests. (C.K.)
Inside the college everything looked old, but not ugly. The rooms are very big and the ceilings very high. (S.M.)
The garden of Christ Church College was beautiful. (A.S.)
After that we had to do a ralley, which was quite long, but it was funny to talk to people in the streets. We also had some time for ourselves to go to Starbucks or McDonald's. We had a great time in Oxford. (T.D.)
It was the second best trip. (H.B.)
In the evening we had to pack our suitcases, that was a bit sad. But we were also looking forward to another highlight: London.

FRIDAY

LONDON - we're coming! (T.T.)
Today we went to the capital of England. London can be described with one word: Wow!
You cannot see everything in one day. (S.S.)
Today was the best day of the whole trip! We saw many sights (Big Ben, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, British Museum and many others), went shopping, spoke to English people, bought clothes, went into a huge sweets shop - it was so great. (H.B.)
I thought London Eye was bigger, Westminster Abbey was bigger than I expected, Buckingham Palace is fantastic (although there weren't any guards in red), I liked Covent Garden. The British Museum was interesting - I loved the mummies. And then we went to the best shopping street on earth ... Oxford Street. (T.D.)
We were allowed to go shopping in Oxford Street. I spent all my money. (S.M.)
London was so cool, but I would not want to live there because there's too much noise. (T.T.)
What I found funny was that in TopShop you could buy cupcakes. They were so delicious. (T.D.)
I think it was not the last time that I was in London/England. (H.B.)
The best thing was that it was dark when we left and all the lights were on. It looked so nice. (L.T.)
After this exhausting day we went back to Germany... (T.D.)

SATURDAY

Due to a lack of sleep none of the pupils wrote about Saturday and our arrival back in Pirmasens at 11 o'clock. - But that's o.k.!

Dear teachers who accompanied us!
We want to say thank you for this trip to England. We had so much fun and we learned a lot. It's unbelievable.
These memories are going to stay forever!
THANK YOU!
